Golos, Tireless Pilgrim

Done for MTG Core 20, AD Taylor Ingvarrson. Done in oil on board, with sketching done digitally. The ask was for an automaton that was trekking through the wilderness and looked as though it had endured many challenges and could endure many more, with small fabric keepsakes from its past traveling companions worked into its gear. Although I don't play the game I had a feeling this would be an iconic card so I tried not to overthink it and just keep the characters design to big simple shapes and colors with a strong pose. I thought the same thing for the composition, more and more I'm trying to just go with my instinct and not over complicate things.
