Tide Skimmer, done for MTG M21. This was a fun one that fell into place quickly, and a chance for me to create the kind of regimented composition that I love. It was also enjoyable to paint a dragon that wasn't a star, I like to think the people living on this coast look at these the way we look at pelicans. For that reason I went for a very naturalistic look, and based it largely on certain pterosaurs that have very nightmarish looking spiky teeth that were in fact adapted for fishing. When doing this I was about 6 months removed from a trip to the Amalfi Coast, and it was fun to do a painting that invoked some of that place.
